These kind of tactics from 150 years ago by the railroads and Pinkerton, working for the railroads, is exactly why they became infamous. This guy needs a very sharp lawyer and a sympathetic judge to get an injunction against the pipeline.

Preview is my friend....It should have said: These kind of tactics from 150 years ago by the railroads and Pinkerton, working for the railroads, is exactly why Jesse James became infamous. This guy needs a very sharp lawyer and a sympathetic judge to get an injunction against the pipeline.

What do you expect?
Who has the money? Ergo, who does the system support? I understand the granting of easements, but there is NO excuse except thievery for nonpayment of compensation. Just because logic and morality are on your side doesn't mean the law is.

There's a natural gas pipeline running through my grandma's property. I don't know what they paid to run it, but they paid her a few thousand dollars a couple of years ago because they had to bring heavy equipment onto the property and clear trees for them to do aerial surveillance(plane checks for leaks by flying overhead). It gave us a bunch of firewood.
I think it is dead wrong for them to do anything except for walk across the property without compensation. And advanced warning should be given there. I hope he has his day in court and is awarded a proper amount.

D-man, that pisses me off. I didn't get comp money when they came in and did the same for me for the same reason. Of course I was happy to get all that cleaned out at their expense too.
Trespassing? Maybe disorderly, or some other interfering type misdemeaner, but sounds like they picked the wrong charge for sure. This is more of a civil matter, not criminal unless the pipeline got some kind of court order.

If the officer knew this guy was the actual land-owner then I say the officer should be in trouble. If the officer didn't know and maybe just thought he was a tree loving hippie I'm not that upset about it.

Looks like the important thing isn't who owns the land but who owns the sheriff.
