Yikes. Never having been in such a condition, I can't say....but you'd think there would have been some clues.
And so much for the myth that all those women weightlifters are lesbians.

Elrond, it is possible for a woman not to know. It's not uncommon to keep having your period. My friend continued to have hers while being a few months pregnant (and not knowing), and her mother went for five months having her period and being pregnant but not knowing. If you don't have much nausea, there's really no reason for someone in that position to suspect they're pregnant (especially if they're using birth control and not trying to conceive).
And as for female athletes, they generally don't have their period at all, so wouldn't have that clue. And maybe when you're so muscular and fit, you wouldn't have the typical pregnancy gut start growing.
Just saying ... though it's not the norm, it's not unusual for a woman to not know.
