Olathe police are reminding the public about their Operation Lifeline service. It's for people who don't have someone who can check on their well-being on a regular basis. A police volunteer calls every day, and if the person can't answer their phone, a police officer will check on them in person.
More information, such as how to enter the program, is available below:
From Olathe PD: The Olathe Police Department sponsors a free program offered to the residents of Olathe called Operation Lifeline. This program enlists the help of volunteers from our community who make daily telephone calls to retired and self-care persons who don't have anyone to check on them regularly.
Once someone applies for the program, they will receive daily telephone calls from department volunteers checking on their welfare. If a member is unable to answer the phone, the volunteer caller will contact the Olathe Police and an officer will be dispatched to check on that person.
Individuals wishing to use this service must:
-Live within the city limits of Olathe
-Have no family members living in the immediate area that are able to check on them regularly
-Provide a key to their residence for the Olathe Police Department. The key will be secured and used for emergency access
Anyone wishing to sign up for this program should contact Community Outreach/Crime Prevention Specialist Beth Wegner at 913-971-6323. Additional information can be obtained by logging on to the City of Olathe's website; www.olatheks.org/Police/Outreach/Lifeline.

Is there a meals on wheels service here in KC? We had it for my great uncle even though he was living with my parents. So, even if they were out of town, they knew someone would stop by at least once a day.

To quote Dolly Parton:
It never ceases to amaze me that one Mama can take care of 10 kids..but 10 kids, cant take care of one Mama.

Calls are good but people lie about how they are doing. Someone should go to the residence to actually check on a random basis.
