Not a crime story, just an interesting case from the Chicago area, where a quadriplegic mom is fighting a legal battle to retain custody of her 5-month-old son. Her former boyfriend, the little boy's dad, is seeking custody by saying that, because of her disability, the mother isn't a fit parent. (Her particular disability means she can't feel anything from the chest down. She also has trouble with fine motor control in her hands.)
Legal experts told the Chicago Tribune that simply having a disability can't be used to determine custody, though HOW a disability affects a parent's ability to care for the child is a factor. The mother, who used to be in the Navy, says she always has a caretaker or family member with her.

Personally, I'd take the ex-boyfriend out and shoot the ba$+ard. Apparently he wasn't exactly thinking about the long-term with either head as he was getting his short-term jollies.
