Yes, you can be arrested for being a jerk online

In Greensboro, N.C., a blogger was arrested for cyberstalking after he allegedly sent 27 emails in less than an hour to another blogger.

The e-mails included messages such as, “Everyone knows your crazy, but no one has exhibited the courage to deal with it. I’m not afraid of you.” Martin also admitted to sending Johnson an e-mail telling her he knows where she lives. Martin said there was no threat intended, but he simply wanted to stop Johnson from attacking him and his friends in the blogging community.

Why were they fighting? They disagreed over a dam construction project.

Bunch of id-yets!

lighten up, Francis!

Uh, oh, I think a few of us should stop posting if it's just for being a jerk online. ;)

For the record, I don't know where any of you live (well, I might have some idea :))

He should of stuck to downloading music and movies and watching porn.

What if "Jerk" is your screen name?

Gah! Arrest him!!

:P

Damn construction projects! I hate them too.

LOL@Ralfred

why would anyone want to be mean to someone online? can't we all get along.

seems to me we could save the polar bears and not get angry or mean with each other.

"seems to me we could save the polar bears and not get angry or mean with each other"

Yeah, you're stupid. Let the polar bears save themselves.

Being a jerk online is a crime? Really? Wow, there aren't enough cells in the world to jail all the online jerks out there... What happened to letting people work things out for themselves? The beginning of the nanny state...

Damn polar bears, dropping out of school to hang out on the beach and eat. Having offspring they can't raise and expecting ME to foot the bill! Lazy whities.

Hmmm... so if all the jerks got off the internet... that means World of Warcraft would only have 100 players, not 11 million!

Let's start a "Polar Bears Are Naked" contest for PETA. How dare they wear fur.

*looks around nervously*

It would be easy to find where Searching lives...just follow the trail of doughnut crumbs and the smell of Charlie perfume.

I guess every MU and KU fan would be arrested then. I read some of the posts on those college sports stories and some of the things those people post would be grounds for arrest (according to the story attached).

Can you really be arrested for leaving controversial comments online? I'd think you'd have to make a direct threat or something that's actually illegal... if you leave a comment that you'd make in real life, then you're probably OK. Just imagine there's a little cop on your right shoulder reading everything you type :D

You know cousin eddie that's funny, cause that's how I found your mother. She was right at the corner you dropped her off at that morning.
