A motive for the Landrieu phone scheme?

Landrieu

Earlier in the week, four conservative activists were charged in a scheme / prank / project where some of them posed as telephone repairmen and tried to get access to Sen. Mary Landrieu's phone system at her office in New Orleans. (Located in a federal building, which are known for their lighthearted, carefree approach to security.) The big mystery was why they were there and what they hoped to accomplish. From AP:

Attorney J. Garrison Jordan denied they were trying to disable or wiretap the phones in Landrieu's office.

"You're dealing with kids," he said. "I don't think they thought it through that far."

Instead, Jordan said, they hoped to get embarrassing video footage of Landrieu's staff handling constituent calls. Her office received complaints last month that callers opposed to her health care stance couldn't get through.

For her part, Landrieu isn't buying it.
