About 80 percent of U.S. wants medical marijuana, survey says

There are varying levels of support, though, depending on the patient's situation. Some of those surveyed, for instance, only want medical marijuana made available to people with terminal illnesses. Others were OK with opening the law up so patients suffering a variety of illnesses could get prescriptions.

And how about some medical whiskey and medicinal massages "with happy ending".

I think this shows the general population has some tolerances and compassion for those whose last few years of life could be improved by the medicinal application of marijuana.

Is common sense finally creeping into the psyche of this nation??!! I'll believe it when it is legalized.

Last few years?.. I want it for my upset stomach and my tired feet.

Nice start. Made available to anyone battling cancer with chemotherapy would be a much better start. (Just because you're prognosis is good doesn't mean you want to spend the next year in bed barfing either).

this will only upset the dealers and their monopoly of setting the outrageous prices. Legalize it, and we'll only be taxed by Uncle sam rather than Julio on the corner.

I think I'd rather pay Julio. Uncle Sam is a bigger thug than Julio or Guido could ever be.

This still wont convince the govt. Govt does not "represent" us so public opinion is irrelevent in thier mind.

K.

Totally agree. It's like cigarettes. You'll never know what type of chemicals they'll be putting in it. I'd rather be "legalized" to grow my own. Just like the vegetable garden, totally organic, totally natural. No dies, chemicals, or other possibly added crap...

"Uncle Sam is a bigger thug than Julio or Guido could ever be. "

They're more organized and methodic than Julio, but for all that I'd rather fork over my 10% to the gov't than what may or may not be the mexican mafia.

But I agree w' Mickey, certainly the right to grow one's own would be the best way to go.

Yes because if you don't pay uncle same he's going to show up at your house with a hit team and make you watch them murder your entire family then mutilate you. Yup really close to how uncle same acts.....

...and the other 20% want it opened up to everyone!! We can hope...

The problem is that the Congress and legislators simply do not have the courage needed to stop locking citizens up over this Refer Madness crap.

A vote to decriminalize marijuana -- however rational for public policy -- will mean that they get branded "Soft on Drugs" and defeated in the next election by a demagogue.

Public opinion is only important when it demands more crazy law-and-order irrationality. Otherwise, it is Big Brother who knows best.

Chuckie Chuckie, I'm still amazed at the lack of common sense spewing from your mouth, nice long reach there tard.

Hey I have no problem with legalizing marijuana. But when you make a dumb@ss comparison I'm going to call you out on it. Just like calling me McCarthy.

I was just saying Uncle Sam is no where near as bad as Juan is. Do you see Uncle Sam in the streets of Kansas City having rolling gun battles killing innocent people over drug turf? Yeah thought not.

Do I need to draw that in crayon for you Chuch McCarthyist? I know I used a lot of big words and analogy's I hope you can keep up.

NO, but the government will show up and take your car, house, boat, kids, and any paychecks you earn for the rest of your life. But you're right they will let you live.

just think if they put medical marijuana in a pill? Big pharma is all over that.

They do. It's called Marinol, I think.

Yes Searchng that's correct because at this time selling these drugs is illegal.

I was merely commenting on another poster who stated in essence if it were legal they'd rather pay Juan than Uncle Sam. I was attempting to show that if you didn't pay Juan, Juan would cut you into little pieces and feed you to his fish, where uncle sam would garnish your wages.

Thus, they are both thugs waging a war over the money turf, with big Pharm watching to catch the in-betweens.
