From Christine Vendel: A 66-year-old man allegedly attacked a 42-year-old woman with a machete in Kansas City early today after an argument over $20. Police were called to the 5800 block of Woodland Avenue about 2:10 a.m. Officers found the victim and suspect covered in blood.
The victim suffered cuts to her hands and a gash on her head. She also suffered broken bones in her left hand. Her injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
The victim and suspect lived together with several other roommates, according to police reports. The victim and suspect had been drinking together prior to the argument, police said. Other roommates helped break up the fight in a hallway and held the suspect, as he continued to try to go after the victim.
Officers arrested the suspect and recovered a machete.
