Could Roeder be convicted of a lesser charge?

If you haven't seen it already, be sure to read Judy Thomas' piece about the big news in the Scott Roeder. Namely, the judge says he might very well let the jury consider convicting Roeder -- who has admitted to killing Dr. George Tiller -- of voluntary manslaughter, which carries a lesser punishment than a first-degree murder charge.

Abortion opponents are thrilled, but pro-choice groups say they're worried the possibility of lighter punishments will lead to more violence against abortion providers.
