Independence burglars strike while victims sleep

From Meredith: Police are trying to catch whoever is responsible for six home burglaries in northwest Independence during the last five weeks.

Authorities are concerned that future burglaries could lead to a violent encounter with residents because the crimes occurred while residents slept. The burglar or burglars cut screens to enter homes through a window before going to the bedroom to steal valuables like wallets, purses and cash. They leave through the front door.

Anyone with information is asked to call 816-474-TIPS or the Independence police at 816-325-7330.
