Mo. police chief attended underage drinking party, prosecutors say

From Don Bradley: Teenagers drinking alcohol typically scramble out the backdoor when the police chief shows up at a party.

Then there’s Lexington, Mo., where Chief Don Rector showed up at party recently and apparently no teen ran, unless it was to get another beer. Photos showing Rector, 47, at the party and doing nothing to stop the under-age drinking helped get him suspended, but he will not be charged with a crime.

It was not Rector’s house. Nor is there evidence that he provided teens liquor or encouraged anyone to drink. Had he done any of those, he could face charges, Lafayette County prosecutor Kellie Ritchie said Thursday.

So it appears his punishment will be only the two weeks suspension without pay and six months probation already handed down by the Lexington City Council.

Well there is a popular country song that talks about this very thing! Cop wasn't coming to bust the party...he was coming to join it! :)

Another hypocritical upstanding member of law enforcement...pathetic.

Yea, what else was he there for?

To bop with the teenies of course.
GO HORNS!

If this was anyother adult they would throw the book at him....another corrupt cop

"The party occurred Dec. 12 at a house owned by Gregory Duncan, 41, the father of a teenage girl. He faces four misdemeanor counts of knowing and allowing teens to drink at his house. "

Did anyone read this?? WTF..and the COP get OFF?? he didnt KNOW the kids were drinking?

Lafayette County Prosecutor Kellie Ritchie is too busy trying to make a case against the Mohler men to piddle with such minor stuff.

I spent my teenage years in Lexington. I graduated from Lexington High School in 1999. Back then we had a few cops (not the Chief of Police though) join in on the parties. So this doesn't seem all that unusual to me lol!

Come on, lets get a rope. Who's with me?

Maybe a professional would think of a teen drinking officer as unworthy of his time to bust.

I don't understand why the residence owner is facing so many charges, while the chief is walking away scott free. He should have the same amount of trouble.

Why is this even being charged? He did nothing wrong, clearly at an adult party, drinking with adults. Maybe the daughter had a few friends over and they stole tha booz. He was just gettin his pimp on, quit playa hatin. Son.

I don't think it is the cops job to police your teenage kids. If the parents don't stop it the cops shouldn't either. I'm sure had one of those kids got behind the wheel he would have stopped them.
