In Pennsylvania, a judge has postponed a hearing for six people accused of torturing and murdering a mentally disabled woman named Jennifer Daugherty. The reason? At least some of the defendants have head lice and are "in a contagious state," the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Daugherty's death was particularly brutal and made national headlines.
Police say the six held her captive, beat her with household objects, fed her urine, oil and spices, painted her face with nail polish and forced her to write a fake suicide note before stabbing her to death and stashing her body in a neighbor's garbage can.

Ah yes, head lice. I taught for 27 years and never got any from the little kiddies but I automatically feel an itchy head every time I hear that word: LICE! Thanks for bringing it up, James. Memories...
