Lisa Hofstra is a Chicago nurse who was handcuffed and placed in a police car for 45 minutes because she refused an officer's order to draw blood from a drunk-driving suspect. Hofstra said she would do the blood draw, but only after the patient was admitted, which was hospital procedure. She was told she was "obstructing justice."
So she sued. And now the police department is settling and agreeing to pay her $78,000, the Sun-Times reports.
