Suspects charged in Target scam

From Christine Vendel: Jackson County prosecutors today accused a former Target employee and her friend of embezzling at least $120,000 worth of merchandise from the retail store at Ward Parkway Center.

Prosecutors charged Melody A. Breckenridge, 50, of Kansas City, and Damon C. Davidson, 43, of Prairie Village, each with one felony count of theft. The women were not in custody today, but police were working through an attorney to try to arrange their surrender.

Police believe Breckenridge, who worked on the receiving docks at the store, began taking items that were identified as salvage and later began stealing new merchandise more than a year and a half ago. In January, Target security officers noticed four Chi hair straighteners were missing from the stock room. They traced the missing items to a box that Breckenridge later loaded into an unfamiliar truck at the docks. Security officers contacted police and turned over surveillance footage from the docks that apparently showed thefts dating back to Nov. 25 — the earliest date for which tapes still were available.

Court records said Target estimated their missing merchandise from recent months at $120,562.85. Police recovered more than $96,000 in merchandise from Breckenridge’s home and from homes of friends and relatives, police said.

Prosecutors allege that Davidson helped transport the stolen goods.

I'm glad I didn't see that at 6 a.m. this morning. Would they please in the future allow Phyllis Diller there to fix her hair before taking her picture?

no wonder that particular Target is always out of the stuff I want.

Redd Foxx may hve beem right.

That goes to show the least person you expect to do a crime is the ones you should really watch. I guess the saying is true, " you can't judge a book by it's cover."
