In Galena Park, Texas, an animal-control officer is facing criminal charges because -- after a resident turned in a lost puppy -- he allegedly shot the dog, threw it out at the dump and then lied when the owner asked about the poor beast. The puppy was supposed to be held for three days before a trained veterinarian put it down. The police say the dog was killed "almost immediately," KHOU reports.
