Oscar Richardson has pleaded guilty to escaping the Florida correctional system in 1979 and eventually moving to Branson, where he lived under the name of "Eugene Ward" and didn't really bother anybody. He hid out for 26 years. Thanks to his plea, Richardson, who originally went away for armed robbery, could be out by 2013. He was tracked down a few months ago, after Florida launched a campaign to catch fugitives during the winter holidays. (How Christmassy.)
I know he's probably not eager to start a prison sentence -- he looks like he's in his 50s -- but I wonder if he's not relieved, at least a little bit, that he doesn't have to worry about getting caught anymore.
