A 64-year-old man with emphysema left his paid obituary at the newspaper in Placerville, Calif., and then hanged himself from a local bridge. A reporter told the Sacramento Bee the obituary was delivered on Tuesday night and opened the next morning. The paper immediately called 911, but they were about a half-hour too late.
"The envelope included a picture, apparently of Peters, with a cigarette hanging from his mouth," the Mountain Democrat reported. "He is wearing a baseball cap with 'True Value' written on it."
