Florida lawmakers have again failed to enact a law that would criminalize bestiality there.
It's not so much that they're OK with the act. The Miami Herald reports that lawmakers didn't want to be accused of wasting time addressing a rare crime, and that "they did not want to debate the icky subject in public meetings occasionally frequented by children."
Still, one humane society official said, "While it is not something that we think is a widespread problem, Florida ought to be able to prosecute these cases when they do happen."
