From J. Brady McCollough: Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins has been identified as a victim of blackmail, according to a Lawrence police report.
The report says that Perkins was a victim of the alleged blackmail for seven months, from Sept. 15 to April 15 and that a computer was involved. Perkins’ attorney, Steve McAllister of the Lawrence law firm Thompson, Ramsdell and Qualseth, filed a report on April 16.
Perkins could not be reached for comment Saturday, but KU associate athletic director for external relations Jim Marchiony confirmed that someone had been trying to take advantage of Perkins. Marchiony said the blackmail was not related to the KU ticket scandal.
“Not in any way,” Marchiony said.
