UPDATED: Kansas City police say a man has been charged in the murder of two brothers whose bodies were found late Thursday in a shopping cart. Loyal Hayes, 23, of Kansas City has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action, a homicide detective said. Police say the investigation is ongoing and others may be involved.
PREVIOUSLY, From Tony Rizzo: Two homicide victims found Thursday in a shopping cart behind an abandoned house were brothers reported missing earlier in the day. Kansas City police identified the men as John L. Hooker, 21, and Joseph L. Hooker, 18.
Family members said the brothers had been missing since Tuesday and their car was found abandoned, burned and bullet-riddled near 55th Street and Oakley Avenue. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
