Will restricting cold meds stop meth?

Minnesota passed rules that make it harder to buy a key meth ingredient, pseudoephedrine, but meth use hasn't really declined, the Star-Tribune says. Instead, Mexican suppliers are filling the void -- and making a lot of money doing so. On the bright side, police are finding far fewer meth houses.

I'm just curious over what this means for Missouri. A handful of communities have passed laws requiring prescriptions to get cold meds containing pseudoephedrine, and there's talk of a statewide law. They've cited Oregon as a role model. That state passed a prescription law, and the number of meth labs plummeted. I've not found numbers on meth seizures, though. Experts say that, even if the Mexicans take over the U.S. meth trade, that means police can focus solely on those groups and not have to worry about Joe Dirt making meth with a Mountain Dew bottle in the back of his hoopty.

ABC News has a good roundup on the issue here -- and notes there's talk about a national law requiring prescriptions for cold meds containing pseudoephedrine.

Might as well make it illegal. I'm not spending $120 to go visit my doctor to get a prescription for medicine that costs $10.

Stop the planet, I want to get off. Is there ANY sane country on earth? Anyplace one could go to live where legislators and the majority of the general public aren't complete idiots?

I love how someone looks after doing meth for a few years. Their teeth are all rotten, and they're not looking good. That should be enough to stop meth use. Everyone's seen those pictures of someone who has done meth, right? Or, more likely, they've seen someone who has done might.

Is it only stupid white trash that does meth? Or is that just my impression. I never hear of anyone else dumb enough to do meth.

They only become dumb and white after using meth.

I wish Meth Heads would just die and get it over with.
Speed kills, but just not fast enough.
My neighbor is a Meth Head. You can tell when he gets his "buzz" on because he beats on his drum set for HOURS. Worse part is...HIS DRUMMING SKILLS SUCK.

Again...speed kills...just not fast enough.
