WyCo deputy in hospital after attack

From Joe Lambe: A Wyandotte County deputy remained in a hospital today after an attack Tuesday by an inmate at the county jail, authorities said. The attack happened about 7:30 p.m. when the inmate was routinely out of a cell to get medications, Wyandotte County Sheriff Don Ash said.

The inmate walked up to the five-year veteran, suddenly hit him in the head and knocked him unconscious, Ash said. The deputy was put in intensive care at a hospital and is likely to remain in the hospital for a few days, the sheriff said.
