Kill a cat, lose your job

A North Carolina state trooper is trying to get his job back after he reportedly trapped and killed a neighbor's cat, Rowdy, the News & Observer reports. (It doesn't sound like he was deliberately trying to get the cat. He just wanted to stop whatever animal was crawling on his vehicles. He thought the cat might be rabid, which is why he shot it, the paper reports.)
