Man drives to KC police HQ to escape carjackers

From Christine Vendel: Kansas City police were looking for a gunman who followed a man from the Westport area early today to police headquarters in a failed attempt to steal his car.

The 19-year-old man said he noticed a vehicle following him near 39th Street and Broadway about 1:40 a.m. The victim said he saw a gun in the driver’s hand so he drove to police headquarters at 1125 Locust Street and circled the building twice, looking for an officer.

Not seeing any officers, the victim stopped his vehicle at 11th and Locust. The suspect pulled up beside him, pointed a handgun and said, “Give me the car!”

The victim said he ran to police headquarters, and the passenger from the suspect’s car chased him until he reached the front doors.
