About 7 tonight, a man was shot and killed at a Shell station near Bannister and Drury. Sara Shepherd reported the dead man had come into the store and had caused some kind of disturbance. KMBC's take on the story is here. Sara spoke with a customer who was there, who said the man was "acting crazy," throwing things and demanding to know why he wasn't allowed in the store.
What makes this story a little unusual is that, earlier in the week, a clerk reportedly fired shots at gunmen who tried to rob the store. (Though KMBC says that clerk was not working tonight.) Channel 9 shot video with a witness who gave an account of what happened. The woman, pictured below, is a little colorful, so the video became popular on the Internet.
It eventually caught the attention of the Gregory Brothers, a band that -- as a sideline -- does Auto-Tune The News, music videos constructed out of TV news clips. If you've been anywhere near a computer in the last month, you probably saw their work on the "Bed Intruder Song." And now they've done a song based on the KMBC clip from earlier this week.

Both my husband and I had tears in our eyes laughing at this. I hope I don't get bad karma points since someone ended up dying.
And I hope that there was a legitimate threat by the dead guy, and there wasn't just someone with an itchy trigger finger.

Ein: I know what you mean. My original post was about the song and the whole original interview. Because nobody got hurt ... well, it's easier to not feel bad about watching.
Then I learned about the guy getting killed tonight.
I almost pulled the post down entirely, but the shooting is news, and the anecdote about the robbery attempt earlier in the week is, too. I'm keeping the videos in, too, because they're part of the whole picture now.
I don't know, what do you guys think?

James,
Regarding the first story:
Once you've made a decision it's always best to stick to the principles that guided you in the original decision and not backup under pressure.
At least that's what my father taught me.
My condolences to the family of the deceased mentioned in the 2nd story.

It's too bad but crime is so out of hand in Kansas City people are making videos about it. Sad we don't get the same level of effort from City Hall or the Police Department.

Maybe people who get so serious about things that they want to commit an act of violence are helped by seeing the absurdity of it all.

Looks like a woman I used to know called Cassandra. It always cracked me up but she did tell good stories.
No I can't remember her last name or even where I knew Cassandra from.

successive nights, The Daily Show produced no doubt the most devastating take-down of the absurdity, dishonesty and perfidy of the clown show known as "FOX News" ever
