Mom faces murder charge for killing infant with heat of hairdryer

Charges against Brigit L. Hippen, 18, have been upgraded to second-degree murder for the Feb. 23 death of her infant daughter.

She initially was charged with involuntary manslaughter and had pleaded innocent.

But Cheryl Allen, Reno County assistant district attorney said she felt that the murder charge was more appropriate considering the facts in the case.
