Should federal judges be able to order California to release 40,000 inmates from prison? That's the heart of a case going before the U.S. Supreme Court today. Cali is appealing an order to release these prisoners because its prison system's health care is so horrible. In 2005, a judge found that about one person died every week because of medical neglect / malfeasance, the AP reports.
A lot of states are concerned about the precedent that could be established here. (California isn't the only prison system out there with medical woes.)
