From Tony Rizzo: A Kansas City man accused in the knife attack on a local college official was ordered this morning committed to the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
A Jackson County judge ruled that Casey Brezik is not competent currently to stand trial for allegedly stabbing a Metropolitan Community College dean last September.
The stabbing occurred at the college’s Penn Valley campus shortly before an appearance by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, who may have been the intended target, according to investigators.
Brezik, 23, will be evaluated by mental health professionals who will report back to the court within six months with a recommendation on his competency.
