Olathe police release name of man killed in officer-involved shooting

Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed in an altercation with an Olathe police officer as 20-year-old Carlos Villegas Jr.

Villegas was fatally shot when police officers responded to an assault inside a home in the 400 block of North Logan Street about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Olathe police, the officer entered the home and found Villegas assaulting another man with a weapon. The officer shot the man, who was then pronounced dead at the scene.
