I missed this while I was off work last week, but Glenn Rice and Judy Thomas had another story about the Shawn Ratigan case and how the local diocese has handled the allegations.
One of the key developments: Bishop Finn reported that -- while the principal at St. Patrick's School had written a memo about Ratigan about a year ago -- Finn didn't actually read it until recently. Instead, he was given a briefing by the diocese's vicar general at the time.
“Monsignor Murphy told me that he had thoroughly discussed these concerns with Shawn Ratigan and how he was to change his behavior,” Finn said. “Shawn Ratigan expressed the willingness and the desire to make these changes.”
