Charges filed in fatal shooting outside south KC convenience store

Over the weekend, Jackson County prosecutors filed charges in the September 2010 death of Darrell Wright, a local man fatally shot outside an Express Mart in south Kansas City. Kevin D. Watson, 36, is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action:

Wright was killed in a fight outside the store. Three men in another car pulled up, and Wright got into a tangle with one of them:

Witnesses said a woman with Wright tried to break up the fight, but a second man then got out of the Monte Carlo and shot Wright in the head. The probable cause statement says several witnesses later identified Watson as the shooter.
