The TIPS Hotline, with the backing of several agencies, is launching a "gun bounty" program for people who call in ...
1. A tip that leads to the arrest of a suspect,
2. the recovery of a firearm and,
3. the filing of felony charges related to the recovery of the weapon.
It'll start July 1. There's about $32,500 in the bounty program so far, with rewards of $1,000 per case available, KCPD Chief Jim Corwin's blog reports. The TIPS Hotlinenumber, in case it hasn't been burned into your brain already, is 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
