Christine Vendel has more about the death of Gertrude Price, who was killed in a car crash Monday afternoon at 12th and Hardesty. Price was on her way to help do renovation work at her church. The other driver, Jonathan P. Ross, has been charged with second-degree murder and several other felonies.
Ross has a criminal record, including three previous DUI convictions. Prosecutors alleged that he was intoxicated when he allegedly hit and killed Price.
Price, a retired school cafeteria worker, left behind seven children and more than 30 grandchildren, including a boy born two weeks ago. She had planned to visit the baby after she finished volunteering at Bethel Baptist Church, 4300 E. 18th St.
