The man who helped plan the Mi Ranchito salsa poisonings is going to federal prison for 10 years, Joe Lambe reports.
In August 2009, more than 40 diners at Mi Ranchito experienced nausea, cramps and other symptoms after their salsa was dosed with pesticide. This actually happened on two different dates, and prosecutors said that Arnoldo Bazan and his wife, Yini De La Torre, were responsible. Bazan had lost his job with Mi Ranchito and had a beef with the owner, but his wife still worked there.
Bazan pleaded guilty to the charges. So did De La Torre, who was already sentenced to seven years.
