Fact: Hernia surgery isn't a DIY project

Police were called when a 63-year-old man in Glendale, Calif., reportedly attempted to remove his own hernia using a butter knife

In attempting to remove his own hernia, said Sam Carvajal, a surgeon at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, he likely caused more harm than good.
