Earlier this month, an Army private told police that he was shot while jogging on the Little Blue Trace Trail in Jackson County. But the sheriff's office believes that he lied about what happened:
An Army private who said he was shot while jogging on a Jackson County trail is now accused of filing a false police report, the sheriff’s office said.
Brian A. Anderson, 25, had told investigators that he was shot and robbed on the Little Blue Trace Trail on Aug. 8, but authorities allege that the gunshot wound to his ankle was self-inflicted. He was arrested at the sheriff’s office on Thursday afternoon and then taken to Fort Riley, where he’s in Army custody.
