A 51-year-old woman has been charged in the death of her husband in Independence a year ago.
Catherine A. Ashworth was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Ronnie D. Ashworth, 63. Independence police found his body in the couple’s home in the 18500 block of Blackhawk Trail on Aug. 22, 2010. He had been beaten to death, the Jackson County medical examiner ruled.
