Would you rather go to church or jail?

The city judge in Bay Minette, Ala., is willing to cut a deal with nonviolent offenders. They can skip jail and fines if they agree to go to church every Sunday for a year. WKRG-TV interviewed the police chief, who said this isn't a church-and-state violation because the offenders get to choose if they participate.

So, I've got two questions: Do you think this is a good idea? And if you were a offender, which path would you choose?
