Robbers steal Shawnee man's Mossberg shotgun, police say

Shawnee police say two robbers beat up a man last night at The Retreat apartment complex, 11100 block of West 76th Terrace, and stole his 9-shot Mossberg shotgun. It happened about 7:15 p.m. The men apparently met at the complex pool and started talking.

They went to the victim's apartment because he said he had a shotgun he'd be willing to sell. When he got it out, one of the robbers took the weapon and smacked him with the shotgun's butt.

Police say they know the two suspects and actually arrested one after a foot chase later Tuesday night. They're still looking for the other suspect.

KS credit-union employee outwits would-be robber

Story is from South Hutch, via The Hutch News. The robber demands some money, but her demand doesn't get her very far ...

The teller at the window, however, decided she first should find out how much money the woman wanted.

"When the employee questioned her how much, the subject replied 'The entire contents of your drawer,' " South Hutchinson Police Chief Scott Jones said.

Then, the teller asked if the woman had an active account at the credit union.

The woman, described as white, in her mid-40s with brown hair and graying roots held in a ponytail, replied that she did not have an account.

"The bank employee made it clear to the subject that the business could not help her with her wishes," Jones said.

"The weakest link" foils KC robbery

From Christine:

Robbery_tag Two men with a shotgun burst into a gas station at 5 a.m. Saturday, but didn’t ask the clerk at the BP station at 6245 Prospect Avenue for any cash.

Instead, one suspect racked a round in the shotgun, to show he meant business. The second suspect wrapped a rusty chain that was hooked to their vehicle around the ATM, which was near the front doors. A third suspect stood in the parking lot and acted as a lookout.

The second suspect got behind the wheel of the SUV and stomped the accelerator to dislodge the ATM. Instead, the chain broke.
