The woman wanted a hit-man to murder an ex-boyfriend who wanted custody of one of her children. Before offering her above-ground pool she tried via text message to get an undercover FBI agent to off her ex in exchange for "happyness," knowing he would be protecting children.

Ross Rice, the FBI spokesman in Chicago, said he believed it was the first murder-for-hire case that began with text messages -- and without a doubt the first time a pool had been offered as payment.

Amy Taylor, 28, said her three-year marriage to David Pollard, 40, came to an end when she twice walked in on him watching his online character, Dave Barmy, having sex with other virtual women in the online fantasy world of Second Life.

However, Taylor always had suspicions about Pollard's online loyalty. At one point she hired a virtual detective to test whether his avatar was cheating on her, after finding him at the computer watching his character having sex with a prostitute.

Pop star stabbed to death in Dubai...

...and it shocked everyone over there in the Mideast because the man who paid to have her killed (her former lover, and a huge Egyptian business tycoon) was actually arrested instead of being let off because of his political connections.

When Moustafa's name first appeared in media reports weeks ago, he denied a role and complained on Egyptian television that the rumors hurt the economy. The government promptly banned press reports on the murder.

Teens accused of Waldo tavern holdups

The latest heist occurred about 11:55 p.m. Friday at Tommy Farha Café & Bar, 8019 Wornall Road. Customers told police two males came in the back door and said, “Don’t move!” and “Give me the money!” while pointing a shotgun and handgun at employees and customers. One gunman scooped cash from the register and the suspects fled in a gray sport-utility vehicle.

Police used information from witnesses to trace the vehicle to a home in the 10000 block of E. 70th Terrace in Raytown. Through a window, officers could see two youths lying on a bed, counting a large amount of cash.

... Police said they were investigating whether the pair was responsible for a similar holdup at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday at Flo’s Poke-A-Dot Lounge, 8934 Wornall.

A samurai sword AND a baseball bat

Murder charges have been filed filed against a man and an accomplice believed to have chopped and beat four people to death in California.

Jae Hwan Shim, 39, and Steve Kwon, 27, are accused of using a samurai sword and a baseball bat to chop and beat to death Shim's ex-wife, her two children and a relative she was staying with who was a NASA engineer. After all that, they then set fire to the house to cover up the crime.
