Remote patrol
"Any Day Now" is becoming one of my favorites of this new TV season - and what's amazing is that it's not on a broadcast network but cable's Lifetime. Tonight at 8, Rene (Lorraine Toussaint) and Mary Elizabeth (Annie Potts) fight over Rene's decision to defend a black politician accused of taking bribes. Meanwhile, in the flashback story line from 1963, young Rene (played by the breakout star of this series, the captivating Shari Dyon Perry) wants to march, and thus go to jail, with all the other Birmingham youth. If you miss this exceptional episode, "Any Day Now" repeats at 9 p.m. every Sunday. Also tonight, Jonathan Taylor Thomas leaves "Home Improvement" at 7 on Channel 9.
