Remote patrol

You know the bathos has sunk to new lows on "Party of Five" (8 p.m., Channel 4) when that sullen ex-husband of Julia's (Neve Campbell) has to come to her rescue. But that's the scene tonight when Griffin (Jeremy London, below) enlists unlikely help in keeping Julia's boyfriend, Ned, (Scott Bairstow) from slapping her around. Also tonight, American Movie Classics begins showing John Wayne movies every Wednesday at 7, with "Waynesday" introductions featuring "Duke" fan Dennis Quaid. Tonight's feature is an unusual choice: "McQ," the 1974 cop thriller in which Wayne wears a three-piece suit and shoulder holster instead of a Western getup. And the concluding two hours of "I'll Make Me a World" features Gwendolyn Brooks, Bill T. Jones and Spike Lee. It airs at 8 p.m. on Channel 19.
