The phone hasn't exactly been ringing off the hook with viewers wanting to know, "What happened to Knowledge TV?" But we're going to tell you anyway: It's toast. The quasi-educational cable channel, started up by the founder of Jones Intercable, became a lame duck after Jones sold its cable systems to Comcast in 1998. A few months later Knowledge TV was sold to Discovery, which put the channel on hiatus - nothing but reruns. Meanwhile, Discovery was quietly pitching cable operators to put Discovery Health in the channel space set aside for Knowledge. In Kansas City, one out of two cable operators bit: This weekend Comcast will replace Knowledge TV with Discovery Health. But Time Warner Cable, which already offers Fox's Health Network to its digital customers, had other plans. It replaced Knowledge TV with ESPN2. >>>
