Remote patrol

After returning from a day with the kids at Worlds of Fun, the last thing you may want to see is Discovery channel's triple-header of specials devoted to the thrills and chills of roller-coaster rides. But look at it as planning for your next family vacation. The three-hour tour of the nation's amusement rides begins at 7 tonight with a survey of the top 10 roller coasters, as rated in an annual industry poll. Two of the top four are at Kennywood in West Mifflin, Pa. - but finishing a surprising third is the venerable Cyclone on Coney Island, N.Y., still going after 73 years and, yes, still made of wood. The show's third hour profiles "extreme rides" like the Medusa, a coaster in New Jersey that has no floor, thus allowing the patrons' loose coins, keys and dentures to pass directly to the spectators below. @ART CAPTION:A little upside-down fun on the Riddler's Revenge at Six Flags Scream Park. @ART: Photo (color) >>>
