Remote patrol

USA Network is about to lose the rights to pro wrestling. But the perfect replacement just might be sitting over on USA's sister channel Sci-Fi. It's "Crossing Over With John Edward" (3 and 10 p.m. weekdays on Sci-Fi), featuring the young, fast-talking clairvoyant who delivers messages to audience members from their dead relatives. As with wrestling, "Crossing Over" left me asking these questions: Is it real? Was this scripted? And even if it is - does anyone care? As a child, we're told, John Edward was diagnosed with psychic powers. And probably hyperactivity as well. He seems to run only in high gear. At the start of the show, he bolts to the set and immediately begins peppering members of the audience with questions. Before long it appears he's "crossed over" to the nether world and made a match between his subject and a loved one. But frankly, he talks so fast and so much, it's kind of hard to tell. He's the yappy medium. Still, Edward's nonstop style is disarming, and he does have a way of pulling his audience from laughter to tears in a heartbeat. @ART CAPTION:Edward @ART:Photo (color) >>>
