Remote patrol

From the folk songs of the labor movement and Woody Guthrie to the hugely successful rock concerts for Amnesty International, pop musicians have often made themselves troubadors for progressive causes. "Stand and Be Counted," a new documentary produced by David Crosby and others, is a chronicle of cause-related music. It airs in two parts, at 8 tonight and Tuesday on the Learning Channel. "Stand and Be Counted" includes interviews with and concert footage of some of the best known activist-musicians (Tracy Chapman, Sting, Bob Geldof, Bruce Springsteen, John Lennon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo to name just a few). And there's lots of concert footage from many of the best-known cause-related events, including the 1971 fund-raiser for Bangledesh and Farm Aid. @ART CAPTION:A crowd shot from 'Stand and be Counted' @ART:Photo (color) >>>
