Remote patrol
This is premiere week for Discovery and its sister channels TLC, Travel Channel and Animal Planet. And if there's one thing a seasoned cable viewer knows about these channels, it's that once they find a show concept that works, they do it again and again and, just in case you weren't paying attention the first two times again. "Trauma: Life in the E.R." is TLC's highest-rated show and not to be confused with TLC's "Code Blue," which also takes place in the emergency room, or TLC's "Paramedics," which follows the people who bring people to the E.R., or for that matter, "Hospital" on Discovery channel. "Trauma" begins its fifth season at 7 p.m. on TLC with an hour episode filmed at a hospital in Oakland, Calif. There are the requisite number of gurney-chasing and cringe-worthy images from the operating room that I'm not sure I really needed to see. In between, we get a little comic relief from a woman who sings in her bed and a guy who seems to be in the hospital more often than any of the doctors. >>>
