DAG

Airs: 8:30 p.m., NBC (Channel 41) Stars: David Alan Grier, Delta Burke, Judith Whitman, Sarah Hagan, Lauren Tom, Stephen Dunham, Mel Jackson and Hedy Burress. In brief: Unhappy Secret Service agent (Grier) is reassigned to unhappy first lady (Burke). But is it any good? The very funny opening scene shows that Grier can take a pratfall; judging from the first episode, he'll be taking quite a few of them. In between he'll be taking orders from Burke, who isn't as odd a match for Grier as you might think. And it's not like anyone will have trouble with her presiding over a highly dysfunctional first family. Not the worst sitcom I saw for this fall, but considering the overall low quality of the crop that's not saying much. Is it a survivor? "DAG" could go either way, but having "Frasier" as a lead-in at least ensures it won't get overlooked. @ART CAPTION:Delta Burke and David Alan Grier star in "DAG." @ART CREDIT:NBC @ART:Photo (color) >>>
