Remote patrol weekend

A pair of family-friendly movies have their premieres Sunday. The first stars Leslie Nielsen as an amnesiac Kris Kringle in "Santa Who?" which airs at 6 p.m. during "The Wonderful World of Disney." Nielsen, of course, is better known as Frank Drebin from "The Naked Gun" movies. Just imagine Frank as Santa and it's all you need to know about this one. That's followed at 8 by "Christy: The Movie," on PAX (Channel 50). The first of three movies to air this year, it marks the continuing adaptation of Catherine Marshall's beloved novels. But don't look for Kellie Martin or Tyne Daly, the stars of the 1994 CBS series. Now it's newcomer Lauren Lee Smith playing Christy, the 19-year-old mission-school teacher who descends on the Appalachian hamlet of Cutter Gap in 1912. Watching her every move is the sturdy Quaker overseer Alice (Diane Ladd) as well as two young suitors, one of them a minister played by Sam Waterston's son James. @ART CAPTION:Smith and Ladd @ART:Photo >>>
