New on the tube

The Mole Airs: 7 p.m. Tuesdays, ABC (Channel 9) Stars: Anderson Cooper and 10 contestants In brief: A reality show - that is, if your idea of "reality" is being shuttled around the world for a month with nine strangers in order to learn the answers to such questions as, "What does the mole eat for breakfast?" (Hint: "Vermin" is not the right answer.) But is it any good? Critics were not supplied with preview tapes. However, ABC tells us that if contestant "Wendi," age 29, wins the up-to-$1 million first prize, she plans to get her breasts enlarged. And that "Steven," 30, is playing this game as an excuse to get away from his wife for a month. Oh, the anticipation! Is it a survivor? Much like ABC sitcoms, the 10 contestants will be eliminated at a rate of one per week until only two are left. Not that anyone will care what happens to these nitwits. (Did I mention that friends of "Afi," 23, say she should be in toothpaste commercials?) "Survivor 2" may be airing on a different night, but America will find only enough patience for one of these reality shows. The choice shouldn't be hard. Three Sisters Airs: 8:30 p.m., NBC (Channel 41) Stars: Vicki Lewis, A.J. Langer, Katherine LaNasa, Kansas City's own Edward Kerr, Dyan Cannon, Peter Bonerz In brief: Comedy about a big bustling family teeming with faces you've seen on TV before. Dad (Bonerz) was the dentist on "Bob Newhart," Mom (Cannon) is played by Laker Fan No. 2, the snooty sister (Lewis) is that redhead from "NewsRadio," the blond sister (Langer) was on that "Seinfeld" knock-off "It's Like ... You Know." But is it any good? Poor Kerr. So promising in that nifty movie on TNT. Here he's reduced to sexist-pig lines like, "You've obviously never slept with me" and "A little Humpty Bumpty might make you less bitter." Is it a survivor? The last midseason sitcom on NBC that made it to April was, I think, "Hazel." @ART CAPTION:Above, NBC's new "Three Sisters" stars (clockwise from left) Vicki Lewis as Nora, A.J. Langer as Annie, and Katherine LaNasa as Bess. Right, Afi from 'The Mole.' @ART CREDIT:NBC (above) and ABC (right) @ART:Photos (2, color) >>>
